Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to the St Aloysius College website.

I would like to thank you for taking an interest in our school, one of which we are all immensely proud. Whilst staying true to the values to which we hold firm - the Mercy values of compassion, justice, hospitality, dignity, excellence, service and stewardship - we instil in each young woman a confidence and certainty that they can make positive changes in whatever field of work they choose to pursue in later life. Perhaps, above all, St Aloysius College is a Catholic Girls’ College, a supportive community, where every girl and family is known.

St Aloysius College has been at the forefront of girls’ education in North Melbourne for over 130 years. We know that the girls thrive and excel in a single-sex environment. They develop resilience and confidence in a culture that encourages them to believe that nothing is beyond their reach or consideration. Whether a budding engineer, or an inspired artist, a talented sportswoman, or a business owner, teacher, florist or astronaut, we encourage your daughters to develop independent thought, and to support and challenge each other, alongside an enduring sense of service to others.

At St Aloysius we aspire for excellence in everything that we do. We are committed to excellence in teaching through a dynamic curriculum because we are passionate about the futures of your daughters. Whilst their academic achievements are certainly important, these go hand-in-hand with our co-curricular activities, activities that interest and challenge them, within a community that supports them, and one that provides the opportunities to pursue their passions and also to learn from their failures. By nurturing competent, world-aware and self-confident girls, we help them to develop the skills they need to manage the choices and opportunities ahead of them, leaving St Aloysius College as caring, thinking, challenging and empowered young women.

It is, of course, simply impossible to paint the whole picture of life at St Aloysius College in a prospectus or on a website, so I do encourage you to come and experience the vitality of this community in person and witness the unrivalled opportunity it affords for your daughter. A St Aloysius education enriches the lives of all.

I hope to see you soon.
