The Mathematics Curriculum

Years 9 and 10
Years 11 and 12 (VCE)

Years 7 and 8

Students in Years 7 and 8 at St Aloysius College currently utilise the Maths Pathway platform to consolidate their knowledge and understanding from primary school. This program helps to support students to fill any gaps that may have arisen in their previous learning, so that they feel confident and prepared to continue on with their Mathematics development. Their lessons include one-on-one and small group learning, rich tasks, and an assessment of the students’ effort, accuracy, and growth

Years 9 and 10

In Years 9 and 10, Mathematics teaching focuses on students’ strengths and goals, as well areas for opportunity, so that students feel adequately prepared to take on their Mathematics pathway in their final years of study. We have developed a unique internal program, the Mathematical Electives for Senior Pathways, or MESP, to give students the chance to complete curriculum-aligned lessons that will prepare them for their senior studies in Mathematics, whilst not limiting the students’ future tertiary and professional prospects.
