ACS Athletics Championships

On Monday, June 1, the highly anticipated ACS Athletics Championships took place at Lakeside Stadium in Albert Park. The event brought together all eight ACS member schools, showcasing the very best in speed, strength, and endurance across 168 events. The day was marked by outstanding performances, with students demonstrating exceptional athleticism and determination.

The competition was fierce and friendly, as athletes pushed each other to achieve personal bests and set new records. Beyond the impressive displays of talent, the true highlight of the day was the unwavering support students showed for one another.

Congratulations to all participants for their dedication and sportsmanship. We look forward to more memorable moments in future ACS events. St Aloysius finished in 5th place overall out of 8 schools.

Tom Madden, Sports and ACS Leader

On Monday St Aloysius sent its largest ever squad to the annual ACS Athletics Championships at Lakeside Stadium. Starting the day strong our hurdle squad picked up two gold medals with Kleo Cieplik and Chloe Korras winning the Year 8 and 10 Girls races respectively. The sprints allowed our speedsters to shine and boy did they!

Our Year 7's led the way with Sophie Ezzy and Gabriel Faga winning the 100m races. Gabriel backed up winning the 200m, with Xavier Guala winning the 200m B race. With another six medals across the year levels the future of the sprints programme is promising. Our throwers did exceptionally well bringing home nine medals across shot put and discus. Sophie Ezzy in year 7 winning shot put was our highlight.

The jumps team also had significant success with six medals including a 1st place for Alia Sharman in Year 8 high jump. In the distance events we won five medals with many junior athletes competing admirably in the higher year levels. Overall we finished in 5th place, our best ever finish.

Huge congratulations to all athletes involved.
