VCE VET

Applied Fashion Design & Technology

The College is delighted to be running the two-year qualification “VCE VET Applied Fashion Design and Technology" program which is drawn from a national training package recognised throughout Australia. This qualification provides our students with a broad range of skills and knowledge to pursue a career or further training within the fashion industry.

VET fashion has been a great class to be a part of over the last two years. In year one of VET fashion, I learnt about quality standards, safe and ethical practices and how to design and sew a garment. The class made corsets which we entered into The Melbourne Royal show and we also wore these corsets at the end of year school fashion parade. In year two, we started off by learning about sustainable fashion, followed by creating our own textile products as well as a brief introduction into millinery in which we all produced two headpieces. Currently in class I am working on producing two garments, re-visiting the design process I learnt last year and expanding on my abilities. I look forward to every VET fashion class and it has quickly become my favourite subject. This class promotes individual ideas and confidence in the ability to think big and different. My teacher, Ms Grujovski, has helped me learn how to adapt and modify patterns to fit the designs I come up with and in this class I am continually pushed to produce my best work following all the high standards I have been taught.
