National Catholic Education Conference
Last week, the 2025 National Catholic Education Conference in Cairns was a landmark national event—Australia’s biggest gathering of Catholic educational leaders. Guided by a theme of Hope, anchored in Faith, it successfully integrated deep educational discourse with spiritual renewal, cultural connection, and meaningful student participation.

The theme of Hope, anchored in Faith, aligned with this year’s Jubilee theme of Pilgrims of Hope. The focus was on the strategic pillars of Faith, excellence, and access, featuring topics on Catholic identity, Mission and formation, learning and teaching, leadership and governance, community and parent engagement, infrastructure, advocacy, and marketing.

The key event of the first day was the Opening Mass which saw 1000 students and 1500 delegates come together. The Main Celebrant for the Mass was Bishop Joe Caddy.

One of the keynote speakers, Sr Nathalie Becquart XMCJ (Vatican Synod Undersecretary), delivered an opening keynote on Hope anchored in Faith: A Synodal Visual for Catholic Education. Her message — “listening, discerning, and leading with hope” — aligns closely with our identity as a Mercy school. Just as synodality calls the Church to walk together, we too are called to foster collaboration, inclusion, respect and courage.

Senior Years Building Update
Exciting progress continues on the Senior Years Campus build. On the ground floor, the electrical and plumbing works are now complete, the vapour membrane has been installed, and the slab has been poured. Precast panels were installed this week, with the Level 1 slab pour planned for 6 September.

Frayne Festival
Congratulations to all staff and students who were involved in today’s annual Mercy Schools’ Frayne Festival that was held at Sacred Heart College, Kyneton. All teams performed exceptionally well. Congratulations to all involved. Results will follow!

Father’s Day Celebration

We look forward to celebrating Father’s Day on Friday, 5 September with our community. This special occasion will include the opportunity to hear from a number of our fathers who will join us as guest speakers.

To all fathers: We wish you a joyful Father’s Day on Sunday, 7 September, spent with your family and friends.
