From the Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
A warm welcome back to Term 4. I hope the school holidays provided an opportunity for you and your families to enjoy some well-deserved rest and time together.
As we begin the final term of the year, there is much to celebrate and look forward to, particularly as our Year 12 students prepare to conclude their secondary education at St Aloysius College.
For the Class of 2026, this is an especially significant milestone. Their journey has been one of growth, resilience and achievement, and they will forever hold a special place in our College's history as the first graduating cohort of Altiora, our new Senior Years Campus.
On Monday, 19 October 2026, we will gather for our Year 12 Farewell Assembly, a special occasion to celebrate the Class of 2026, acknowledge their achievements and contributions to our College, and present awards recognising excellence, leadership, service and commitment. We will also thank our 2026 College Prefects and Co-Captains for their leadership and congratulate our newly appointed student leaders for 2027, whose names will be shared with the wider College community next week.
We extend our very best wishes to students preparing for their VCE examinations, as well as our VCE VM students and those pursuing alternative pathways. We are proud of all they have achieved and look forward to celebrating their Graduation Mass and Valedictory Dinner.
To those families whose association with the College concludes this year, I extend my sincere gratitude for your partnership.
Last week, we celebrated our Annual Art and Technology Exhibition, a wonderful showcase of the creativity, imagination and technical skills of our students. It was particularly pleasing to see so many parents and family members attending the event and taking the opportunity to appreciate the exceptional standard of work on display.
I congratulate our students on their achievements and sincerely thank our Visual Arts, Food Technology and Materials Technology staff for their dedication, expertise and the considerable planning involved in bringing this annual exhibition together. The quality of the work is a testament to the talents of our students and the commitment of their teachers.
For students in Years 7 to 11, Term 4 provides an important opportunity to consolidate learning, celebrate progress and prepare for the opportunities and responsibilities of the next year level. I encourage every student to remain focused, engaged and committed to finishing the year positively.
Planning for 2027 is already well underway. Next year will be particularly significant as the College celebrates 140 years of Mercy education in North Melbourne, honouring the remarkable legacy of the Sisters of Mercy while embracing the continued growth and evolution of our College.
Our future is also taking shape through the College Master Plan. Following the successful opening of Altiora, we are preparing to commence Stage 3, which includes the development of a new Materials Technology Centre. This investment will further enhance our specialist learning facilities.
We join Catholics across the world in keeping His Holiness Pope Leo XIV in our thoughts and prayers following his recent surgery.
We pray for a peaceful and complete recovery. May Pope Leo draw strength and comfort from the prayers of the faithful as he continues his ministry of leading the Church with compassion, courage and hope.
I wish all members of our College community a positive, productive and rewarding Term 4.
Mary Farah
College Principal
