From the Year 9 Leader

Hello and thank you to everyone at St Aloysius for such a warm welcome. I am thrilled to become part of your vibrant community after fifteen years of teaching in other schools in Melbourne. I have also had experience teaching English in Japan, Cambodia and China. I have a love of yoga, the Japanese language and travel. I am incredibly excited to become a part of the St Aloysius community and will fulfil the role of Japanese teacher and Year 9 Learning Leader at the College by guiding the last group of the all-girls cohort of St Aloysius College into Year 10.

Take the first step in faith. You don’t have to see the whole staircase, just take the first step.

The first day back after a lengthy break started off with an assembly for the ‘Nines’ who were excited to return after a relaxing break. In assembly, our students were asked to reflect on what qualities they wanted to cultivate this year. As inspiration, we celebrated the recent achievement of the rising tennis star, Jannik Sinner and the Young Australian of the Year, Emma McKeon (swimmer). Students will be given nourishing tools in pastoral groups to assist them to cultivate their own success and to develop their interests.

After the assembly, the Year 9s made their speeches with great anticipation to be elected for Class Co-Captain and House Leader roles. The Pastoral Leaders will guide them through prayers and motivational ideas throughout the year to help shape and uplift them. Our elected Class Co-Captains will assist with these reflections. In addition to preparing for the upcoming Canberra trip, students signed up for the swimming carnival. All in all, it has been a fantastic start to term one.

I hope to continue to build on the success achieved in previous years and look forward to meeting and working with you over the coming months.
