From Year 10

The last two weeks have been a very busy time for our Year 10 students for subject selection and exam preparation. Last week, the Senior Pathways Information Evening was held in the Hall in which Mrs Kate Lonsdale, our Senior Director of Learning, explained the structure of VCE and the process of subject selection. Year 10 students attended the Careers Show at the Showgrounds. They enjoyed the excursion very much and took away lots of ideas, information and brochures.

This week our Year 10s are preparing for the upcoming exams. On Monday during Nourish, we had the privilege to have Glen Gerryn from the HopeFULL Institute talk to our Year 10 and 12 about building hope and staying positive in life. Glen’s talk has inspired our students to value their strengths and turn them into a force that pushes them to go further. Whilst students are busy preparing for exams, we encourage students to always look after their physical and mental wellbeing.

The Year 10 Art students have been busily creating their final artwork of the semester; an acrylic painting inspired by the work of artist Georgia O’Keeffe. O’Keeffe is considered a significant artist of the 20th century, renowned for her contribution to modern art.

The students explored natural subject matter and visual conventions to represent personal ideas and emotions. The group diligently developed and refined their acrylic painting skills and in the essence of O’Keeffe, created a visual equivalent for what they appreciated and felt about their subject matter, rather than merely a copy. You will have an opportunity to see the full collection of works at the Visual Arts and Technology Exhibition later this year.
