From Year 10

With no doubt, the highlight for our Year 10 cohort in this fortnight is the Reflection Day. The theme for the day was Journey and Shining Light. Students reflected on what is the ‘next right thing’ for themselves, for their family and friends, for the year level and for the College. After the origami activity, we travelled to St Patrick’s Cathedral in which students had the opportunity to reflect on their journey so far and what makes them who they are. The highlight of the day was the opportunity to have lunch and spend some quality time with their peers. In the afternoon after we returned to the College, students had the opportunity to write a letter of gratitude to the person(s) who have shined a light onto them in their life journey.

Students thoroughly enjoyed the day and felt refreshed and rejuvenated with positivity. I would like to thank Mr Michael Chesser for organising the day with me, and Mrs Barr and Ms Hannigan for coming along to the Cathedral and into the city with us. I wish to express my sincere gratitude to all Year 10 students who have continued to display and carry the Mercy values in their hospitality, courage, service and respect and who participated actively in all the activities all day. I thank them for making the day so special to all of us. I will always remember this day, and I am very proud of them!

In Nourish this week, the Pelvic Pain Foundation of Australia presented the PPET Talk for students in Years 9 and 10 on menstruation, symptoms and how to seek further medical advice if required. In Future Me this week, students learnt about choosing the right outfit for a job interview. Students had lots of fun searching for the type of clothes they would wear for an interview. In Success Advisor Session this week, students took time to reflect on the approach to learning report from their subject teachers and amend their goals to pursue further achievement in Term 4.

In the last few weeks, we’ve done a lot of fun extracurricular activities, such as the year 10 reflection day, and several informative lectures through Nourish and Future Me, and we completed our self-defense unit in PE.

This week in 10C has been a busy week. During this week we had a maths and a humanities test, we were all studying hard but we were able to complete them to the best of our ability. Our semester two electives are coming along well, for those of us in media we completed a film review of a coming-of-age movie the task was very enjoyable. We also finished our self-defense unit in P.E., we focused on taekwondo and we were graded on our skills, the unit was informative and entertaining.
