This quote reminds our students of the purpose of learning and how this journey of learning will take them to many places and pathways in their life. Our Year 10 students continued to identify their personal strengths and areas for improvement related to their studies and had an opportunity to discuss their study schedule in Success Advisor Session. In Future Me, they explored their temperaments and skills related to different jobs. As the term is getting busier, our Year 10s are determined to continue with their journey and build up their stamina when experiencing difficulties.

This past week at school we have done a lot of interesting activities including going to the Holocaust Museum in Elsternwick for a Humanities excursion. There we met a Holocaust survivor named Dr Henry Ekert, he told us his story, how life was during the Holocaust and how we can learn from it. This excursion taught us a lot about the Holocaust and the harsh conditions during WW2. For International Women's Day, Eden Foster came to the school as a guest speaker, talking about her role in parliament and how her mother inspires her. On Friday we had a sausage sizzle and a mini concert outside to celebrate further. The past week was full of events and lots of fun!

On Monday last week, we had a whole school assembly to celebrate International Women’s Day, and Eden Foster appeared as our guest speaker. She talked about her journey as a woman in today’s age, from being the daughter of a working, single mother to studying and working as a psychologist at schools including St Al’s, and finally entering the world of politics. Her speech highlighted the challenges and adversity faced by women in everyday life, but also how she overcame those challenges and how it made her stronger.
On Thursday, all of Year 10 went on an excursion to the Holocaust museum in Elsternwick, in connection to our World War 2 unit in Humanities. We had the chance to observe some primary sources which led to a discussion about some key themes of the war including loss and discrimination, and went on a short guided tour of the exhibition. Lastly, we had the opportunity to talk to a survivor of the Holocaust, who shared his story with us and allowed us to ask him questions about his experience. The excursion was eye-opening and insightful, and was a great opportunity for us to engage in our learning outside of the classroom.

The International Women's Day assembly on Monday held a profound significance this year as we welcomed a remarkable guest speaker, Eden Foster, to share her insights and experiences. Her presence illuminated the themes of empowerment, resilience, and the ongoing struggle for gender equality. Following the assembly, on Thursday, we embarked on an excursion to the Holocaust museum, a solemn yet necessary journey into the depths of human history. As we walked through the exhibits and listened to the speech of Henry Ekert, we were reminded of why we should strive to create a world where every individual is treated with dignity and respect.

Throughout the last few weeks, 10C has been participating in many fun activities and classes. We’ve connected with our Year 7 mentees, experienced career testing, and even had the opportunity to visit the Holocaust Museum as a whole grade on Thursday the 7th. We spent the day analysing artifacts from when they were made, looking around a museum with various details and facts, and got to hear first-hand about the experience of one of the survivors. We asked many questions and reflected on the new information we had learnt. This excursion aided our understanding of the Holocaust and its impacts, intriguingly and interactively. In classes, we’ve had a few formative tasks on topics covered, and studied various subjects in different electives. Some students are certainly looking forward to the upcoming Italy Tour, as the departure date nears. Overall, we’ve had a great couple of weeks and are looking forward to the next to come.
