From Year 10
The last fortnight has been busy for our Year 10 students preparing for exams and assessments. Students are commended for demonstrating perseverance and determination in their efforts to perform to the best of their abilities. Last week in our year level assembly, I shared with students about the importance of practising gratitude which helps us focus on what we have, rather than what we lack. Students are also reminded that gratitude also helps to build resilience, reduce stress and increase happiness. As Year 10 students prepare for the next stage of their learning journey in the senior years, this is the perfect time to reflect on what study strategies work best for them, how they handle challenges, and how they can set positive habits for the future.
In the last few Wednesdays, Year 10 students participated in the post-ACS ‘Leadership in Mercy’ program, in which students are involved in designated areas of community engagement. Students have been working in Houses and had the opportunity to learn about tutoring, making nursing home visits, engaging in community service and designing a community vegetable garden at the College. This program provides our students with valuable opportunities for personal development, community engagement and preparation for the senior years.

These past few weeks, our Year 10 English class has been delving into the world of Language Analysis, focusing on media opinions relating to overconsumption. Using CCTAP and 'What-How-Why' structures, we've learnt how to annotate and comprehend given articles to discern underlying arguments and write a full analysis essay. A big thank you to all of our English teachers for supporting us in the lead up to our exams and the end of this unit!

As we reach the exam period of term 4, we have all been working extremely hard to revise. While it is important to study for exams, it is also important to remember to take care of yourself! Recently, it was Mr B's birthday, so our math class prepared a cake and a surprise for him and it was so lovely. International Teacher's Day also happened where students wrote cards for the teachers and surprised them with it! When we reach exams next week, whatever happens, it is important to remember to take it as an learning opportunity for future experiences! Everyone should do something to treat themselves in the following weeks!
