Farewelling 2025

From Year 10

This week marked a significant milestone as we concluded the academic year for Year 10 in 2025. The past two weeks have been notably busy for our Year 10 students, who have engaged in examinations, assessments, and preparations for the upcoming academic year. On Friday, we will host Farewell Day 2025, which will include pastoral activities, a year-level liturgy, and an assembly dedicated to celebrating student achievements through the presentation of awards as well as some farewells to be addressed. Additionally, we will feature a "Pathway to Success" session, in which Year 12 students will return to the college after completing their VCE exams to provide valuable insights and experiences related to navigating their senior school years.

As the year comes to an end, this final week has been filled with a bittersweet mix of emotions. We’ve said goodbye to the teachers and classes we won’t have next year, while also celebrating the beginning of a new chapter as we move into VCE. Year 10 has truly been a year to remember. I’m grateful for all our teachers, who not only educated us but also made our classrooms enjoyable and engaging. I’m thankful for my peers, who helped build a strong sense of community and lasting friendships, and for all the moments—big and small—that shaped who we are today.

The past few weeks have been very busy but a memorable wrap up to Year 10. Exams have concluded, and everyone worked very hard for preparation as VCE approaches. Year 10 has been an enjoyable year and it is coming to a bittersweet end. Everyone is looking forward to taking new subjects and approaching new challenges in Year 11. The memories made and support from our teachers have been much appreciated. The cohort is collectively grateful for the year we have had and are looking forward to the new experiences to come!

This semester in Art Making, we have been creating ceramic still life compositions and exploring different techniques and materials used in the construction process. For my piece, I went for an abstract depiction of pages to convey my love of reading. Our class has created all-around amazing vessels accompanied by comprehensive visual diaries detailing the design process. In this last week, we have made small gouache postcard paintings, and some of us even tried making pottery on the wheels. I’ve absolutely loved Art this year, and thank you to Ms Franze for making it such an enjoyable subject!

As we wrap up Year 10, it's crazy to look back and realise just how much we've done this year. From the very beginning, we started with the STIVE program, which challenged us to work together, become more confident, and try new things. It definitely set the vibe for the rest of the year. Throughout the year we faced midyear and end-of-year exams, and though they were not all easy, they taught us how to study and gave us a feel for what it will be like in Year 11 and 12. While at times the exam build-ups were stressful, we all came out stronger and very relieved on the other side.

One of the biggest highlights was having the Japanese exchange students come visit. It brought so much energy to the school, and it was fun getting to learn about their culture, show them around, and make new friendships. Along the way, we made so many new memories of moments in class, hanging out with friends, working on projects, and laughing at random things that happened throughout the day. Toward the end of the year, everything started to feel more relaxed and fun, and we really got to enjoy the time we had left together.

Now we're starting to prepare for Year 11, which feels like a big step, but after everything we've experienced this year, we're definitely more ready than we were before.

On the whole, Year 10 has been a time for growth, learning, and fun, and we are excited to see what's next.
