A Journey to Begin With

From Year 10

The theme for Year 10 in 2026 is "A Journey to Begin With," which represents a pivotal moment for our students as they embark on their preparations for senior school. This year is not just about transition; it's about laying a solid foundation for their future. This is well supported by the two subjects that we offer for our Year 10 students: Wellbeing Program and Success Advisor Sessions, in which students learn about themselves, unfold their interests and strengths, and select the pathways they choose to pursue.

The STRIVE Program has been a highlight of the term for all students. This four-day initiative has been very successful with the support of students and staff. Students have thoroughly enjoyed it. The program is designed to teach our Year 10 students how to face new challenges and equip them with skills to cope when encountering difficulties in life.

Here are some of the highlights:

  • Team challenge activities run by Urban Quest in the city which promote teamwork, problem-solving skills, decision-making skills and work under time pressure.
  • Students learn about the importance of practising gratitude in everyday life and embrace the power of resilience when experiencing difficulties.
  • Attend Mentorship Training session and had the opportunity to meet with their Year 7 mentees.
  • A special session presented by Year 10 parents and teachers to share their career experiences and valuable advice to students.
  • A fruitful day of careers introduction and discovery which provides students an opportunity to learn about career pathways and interview skills through the activity of ‘shark tank’ interview panel.
  • A hands-on seminar with Elevate Education on study skills, which promotes independent learning and develops routines to balance study and lifestyle.

I would like to express my gratitude to all Year 10 students who took part in the STRIVE Program. Their enthusiasm and efforts to participate in each session were to be commended. I would also like to thank our Year 10 Pastoral Leaders and other supporting staff for their support throughout the four days.
