From Year 10
As we approach the exam period, our Year 10 students have been working hard to prepare for assessments. Across all subjects, students are engaging with revision resources, seeking feedback from teachers, and showing commitments to improving their understanding. Last week, students attended the Victoria Careers Show at the Showgrounds. This event helps to broaden our students’ knowledge about different subjects and the pathways available for them in their senior years. On Monday, Year 10 students attended an Elevate Education seminar on Time Management which covered topic including: developing routines to balance study and lifestyle; working smart by completing high value work; utilising study groups to leverage time and learning techniques for overcoming procrastination. Students are encouraged to apply some of this knowledge into their routines.

A message from Ms Mizuno, the Careers Pathway Leader
Last week, the Year 10 students attended the Victorian Careers Show, where they had the opportunity to explore a wide range of future pathways, career options and training opportunities. Throughout the excursion, students engaged with exhibitors from universities, TAFEs and employers, gaining valuable insight into the many possibilities available after school. Many students fully embraced the experience, proudly sporting Deakin University pink bucket hats, carrying RMIT University tote bags and even wearing camouflage face paint from the Australian Defence Force. Safe to say, they returned with plenty of freebies and a broader perspective on their future pathways!
We hope that this excursion encouraged students to reflect on their interests, strengths and aspirations, while recognising that there are many different routes to future success. Experiences such as these are an important part of discovering opportunities, building confidence and making informed decisions about life beyond the classroom.
In week 4 we experienced 2 expos and talks to help us with our future and protentional pathways through VCE. We had a talk with Elevate Education about Time Management; this was helpful with the resources they provided us, from the way they present their information through to the important skills they teach. Overall, it was a good session.
We also went to the Victorian Careers Expo where we were able to explore around the expo filled with different representees of many Universities and other pathways after school, for example TAFE courses and sport academies. At every stand there were course guides to explore through the courses they offer and the required subjects and ATAR to get in. Overall, it was a good experience which I'd recommend to future year 10s.

The past few weeks for the year ten cohort have been big ones; summatives and tests have been occurring, and discussions on our futures/ career paths we want to take has been materializing. On May the 13th, 14th and 15th, all classes had the opportunity to travel to the Melbourne showgrounds to look at Universities, Internships and pathways possible after schooling finishes. It was an amazing place to find people with experience and passion for areas students might be looking into, and the space to ask questions! We were so grateful to have had this opportunity!
