From Year 7
After a lengthy break away from school, students have returned refreshed and ready to tackle their second term of secondary school. Unlike Term 1, there are fewer interruptions to learning programs, meaning students can start creating routines and building habits.
This can be a term where our Year 7s can start to show a little fatigue. In response, we have built in a range of supports to helps students manage their wellbeing. The wellbeing team have worked hard to create and deliver holistic resources, such as Wellbeing Wednesdays and Mindfulness, that provide students with an opportunity to step outside their day-to-day classroom routine.
While there are fewer interruptions, there are still lots of co-curricular programs running across the school. The College production preparations have heated up, with many year seven students involved in this year's performance of Grease. The ACS program has moved across to winter sports and this has meant that trials are again taking place with a brand new selection of sport offerings. Trials will take place over the first two weeks of term, before teams are finalised and head of to battle. The House Co-Curricular Program will also be kicking off in a few weeks as we see students engage in a range of areas, such as Social Justice, Performing Arts and STEAM, to earn points for their houses. With huge levels of engagement in 2024, 2025 is set to be even bigger and better! Other extra-curricular events running include ACS Chess, ACS Debating, CODE Green, ACS Athletics and so much more for our students to dig into.
It is going to be a busy term and I invite both parents/carers and students to approach it with some energy and excitement as we continue our adventure together. In the spirit of looking forward, I have asked a few students to look back and reflect on what they enjoyed most about their first term at St Aloysius.

My favourite thing about term 1 at St Aloysius is ACS. It is very fun, and it has helped me meet new friends and new teachers. There are also a lot of different sports to choose from. I also have enjoyed the languages because it means if I ever go overseas, I can speak a different language. The teachers are nice to me and they help me whenever I need. term one was good, and I am looking forward to the rest of my school life.

The thing I most enjoyed about term 1 was ACS and how we got to get the chance to go against other schools and try our best. The other thing I really enjoyed about term 1 was the camp, it was really fun and we got to do all sorts of activities like the giant swing (which mostly everyone screamed when it was their turn) , the leap of faith and the catapults which we got to make and test them to see how far they would send the beanbags. During camp I also made lots of new friends. To sum up Term 1 was fun and if I could go back and do it again I would.

What i have enjoyed about term one at St Aloysius, i enjoyed school camp because the cool activities such as leap of faith and raft building. I made lots of new kind friends that i hope to keep for all of high school. I also like all the subjects but my favourite is Japanese because we had an amazing taiko drum in school excursion.
