Celebrating Successes

From Year 7

We’ve had a great start to Term 3, and it’s been wonderful to see our Year 7 students return with fresh energy and a sense of momentum for the second half of the year. Term 3 is often where we see students take big strides—in their learning, friendships, and confidence—and already we’re seeing lots of positive signs across the cohort.

As students reconnect and settle back into routine, we’ve also had some wonderful achievements to celebrate, and one in particular stand out.

Over the school holidays, Year 7 student Enzo Bonato represented Victoria at the National Ice Hockey Tournament—and we’re thrilled to share that his team took out the gold medal. This is an extraordinary accomplishment at any age, but especially impressive for someone in Year 7, balancing both school and the demands of elite-level sport.

Enzo was also named Assistant Captain of the Victorian team—an enormous honour that reflects his leadership, teamwork, and resilience both on and off the ice. To be entrusted with that kind of responsibility at a national level is no small feat, and we’re so proud of the way Enzo has risen to every challenge.

He’s shared that his voice has been a bit hoarse this week—no doubt the result of barking out instructions across the rink all tournament long! But in true Enzo fashion, he hasn’t missed a beat. Since being back at school, he’s already stepped into leadership roles, helping to present to our incoming Grade 6 students as part of our orientation sessions. His ability to lead by example, whether on the ice or in our school community, is something to be admired.

We’d also like to take a moment to thank all of the teachers and staff who’ve supported Enzo across the past few months. Balancing high-level training commitments with schoolwork is no easy task, and the encouragement and flexibility shown by staff has allowed him to pursue both his passions and his learning with success.

Unsurprisingly, Enzo will be back into his training and looking ahead to future competition. We’re all incredibly proud of him and look forward to seeing where his talent and dedication take him next.

Well done, Enzo—and welcome back to what’s shaping up to be a brilliant Term 3!
