From Year 7
It is hard to believe we are already in Week 5 of Term 1. Our Year 7 students have made an outstanding start to their secondary school journey. They are confidently navigating transport timetables, locating classrooms with increasing independence, understanding uniform expectations and, most importantly, building strong friendships across the year level.
This cohort has demonstrated a genuine sense of kindness and inclusion from the very beginning. I have been particularly proud of the way students supported one another during Year 7 Camp. The encouragement, teamwork and willingness to step outside comfort zones was wonderful to witness.
Each Pastoral Group has been guided with care and intention by their Pastoral Leader. It has been rewarding to see students settling into their groups, forming new connections and developing confidence in the classroom. Many are actively contributing to discussions, asking thoughtful questions and supporting one another with organisation and homework routines. II have been extremely impressed with the way our Year 7 students are wearing their uniform and representing the College with pride.
Our STRIVE program provided students with valuable opportunities to immerse themselves in College life. From learning and proudly singing the school song, to engaging in study skills sessions, teamwork challenges, Mercy values discussions and early leadership experiences, STRIVE has helped establish a strong foundation for what it means to be a St Aloysius student.
As we move through the second half of Term 1, students are encouraged to consistently use their planners to record homework and assessment dates. Developing these organisational habits early is key to long-term success in secondary school. We are also looking forward to upcoming Class Captain and House Leader speeches, and I encourage students to embrace these opportunities to contribute to student voice and leadership.
If parents or students require support at any stage, please do not hesitate to get in contact. I look forward to continuing to work alongside our Year 7 families as the year progresses.
