Showing Compassion

From Year 7

Over the past week, our Year 7 students have shown tremendous compassion, maturity, and care for one another during what has been a very emotional time for our community. In moments like these, we are reminded that schools are not simply places of learning; they are communities built on kindness, support, and connection.

I would like to extend my enormous gratitude to our Year 7 families for the thoughtful gestures shown to staff throughout the week. The donuts delivered last week, and the incredible cakes brought in yesterday were deeply appreciated by our team. Your kindness and acknowledgement meant a great deal to staff as we worked closely to support our students with care and consistency.

Our students have also demonstrated remarkable empathy. Many have been checking in on their peers, showing patience and understanding, and contributing to a supportive environment across the year level. We are currently preparing cards and messages to take to Chris in hospital, and it has been incredibly moving to see the genuine care students have shown throughout this process.

As outlined in the communication sent to families this week, the wellbeing team and teachers will continue to monitor students closely and provide ongoing support where required. The College has continued to provide access to wellbeing break-out spaces, check-ins with staff, and opportunities for students to reset during the school day.

Families are reminded that if concerns about their child’s wellbeing continue, or if students require additional support, parents/carers are encouraged to contact the College so that further school-based wellbeing supports and referrals can be arranged where appropriate.

Thank you to our families for your ongoing partnership, care, and support of both students and staff during this time.
