From Year 8
St Aloysius Day is the annual feast day of the College patron saint, St Aloysius. I commend all students for their participation in the College whole school mass. With St Aloysius, the patron saint of ‘youth’ and young people, it is fitting that the day is one of joyful celebration
College Production – Showtime!
This week marks the production week, a culmination for student rehearsal, preparation, singing and dancing practice. General student reflection
This week has been amazing! My highlight of the week would have to be AFL ACS. Although we did not win, It was amazing to see everyone having a go and celebrating the little victories along the way. Another exciting thing this week has been planning and discussing costumes for St Aloysius Day, 8B came all together to discuss some ideas, and I cannot wait to see everyone bring their ideas to life!

Design Technology
In design technology, students have completed their semester design task of creating a tote bag. Below are a couple of student reflections.
Year 8 design tech this year has been fun. I learnt how to properly use the sewing machine and complete a number of different stiches like an open seam and a closed seam. Near the end of term 1, I had to go on holidays for a couple of weeks, which meant that I had missed out on a couple of lessons. When I came back from my holiday, I was behind compared to my classmates. However, I was prepared to work harder to make up for the time that I had lost. After asking the teachers for help and make the most of my time, I was able to finish my tote bag at the same time as my peers. This year's design tech was fun and entertaining and I learnt many new skills. I was able to learn and have fun at the same time.
Jay, 8E
For year 8 design technology we learned how to research, design, and make our own tote bags. We started by looking at different tote bag styles and materials to get ideas. I drew my own design and chose fabric that would look good and be useful. The hardest part was using the sewing machines at first it was tricky to control but after some lessons we got better at sewing straight lines and putting our tote bags together.
