From Year 8

8C Camp Reflections!

Day 1
Today 8C set off for camp everyone was excited, and many stories were told on the bus. When we arrived, we expected cabins, but it was actually a full house. After being assigned cabins, we enjoyed going down to the beach for a walk and games with sea earth adventures. We saw a nice view of Jan Juc beach. We played beach hide and seek, and a new game called womp’em. Ms Lonsdale nearly won but Adelle managed to beat her, thank goodness. We learnt about the ocean and where we live. For dinner we had spaghetti Bolognese that we cooked under Mr Chesser’s supervision followed by ice-cream and cookies. We then relaxed until bedtime. First day of camp was awesome.
Cabin 1 - Maya, Selam, Emilia, Grace, Mia F and Charli

Day 2
The next day we eagerly set off for the beach at 8:40 to go surfing with the super cool instructors. Once we were at the beach, we grabbed our wet suits and boards and learned some surfing techniques. Mrs Wareham putting hers on was a laugh, the water was freezing but surfing was so much fun! After many practices I (Adelle) even managed to stand up. After the surf we got changed by the side of the road, had some lunch, we were very hungry after surfing. Later we went down to the lake for team building exercises, where we had to build a raft out of barrels, a tarp, and some rope. Maya and Emilia were the only two who fell in. We had a race which was a close tightly fought race ending in a tie. Back at the cabins we played games until it was time to prepare dinner, for dinner we made potatoes, salad, pasta and chicken. Everyone was exhausted but it was so much fun!
Cabin 2 - Tanecia, Stevie, Athiei, Sylvie, Sefanet and India

Day 3
We would all rather stay asleep, but we were loudly woken up with words of joy and not much choice. At this point, some felt happy about the idea of going home and others were keen to stay. After getting dressed and having breakfast, we cleaned our cabins and our shared area. We were supposed to go back to the beach for more activities, but the rain washed the ideas away and we shared a lunch indoors of which were delicious sausage rolls that Mrs Stangherlin organised for us. We later wrote letters to our year nine selves and shared a fact no one knew about us which was interesting to learn, then we finished watching a movie because we didn’t finish it yesterday. To round up, camp has been very successful and enjoyable. We look forward for next year’s camp.
Cabin 3 - Mia H, Vaishali, Alexandra, Adelle and Alice

8A Camp Reflections
The 1st day of camp has been extremely eventful! After arriving in Torquay, we headed to the beach, rolled down the huge hill a few times, and had a little dip in the water. We then went to do some fun beach activities such as a sandcastle competition, find the ball in the sand, and capture the flag. It was so fun! The weather was sunny, a little windy, but still warm.

Today we did surfing at the beautiful Torquay back beach! It was very fun and a new experience for all of us. Ittook lots of practise to catch a wave and stand up, but most of us got the hang of it eventually. We also learnt about water safety, how to spot rips and how to call for help in the water.
Overall, today was an amazing experience for all of us. We are all grateful for getting to learn new things and being on camp. :)

8B Camp Reflections
We all had so much fun on camp. It was such a great experience, we made so many memories and learnt new skills. Our favourite things were surfing, nose-diving on the surf boards, cooking and laughing in our cabins with our best friends. The team activities helped us know one another even better and make new connections. We will all take away special memories from camp and we have so many stories to tell our families when we get home. Thank you so much to the teachers who organised it!

Camp has been such an exciting and exhilarating experience for our class. Surfing was a highlight, as well as beach activities and lots of time spent hanging out and enjoying each other’s company. Being so close to the beach came with lots of laughing, sand everywhere and many sunburns and tans. Camp has been such a great way to get to know each other even better and I think we will all take away some wonderful memories. Lots of competition was raised through the constant rounds of different games, bring many shouts and exclamations of excitement. Thank you to the teachers who came with us, Ms Stangherlin, Ms Prinzi and Mr Needle for making camp so enjoyable and to the people who helped organise the activities.
