Celebrating the Year

From Year 9

Last week marked the final week of Year 9 for our wonderful cohort, and it was a truly uplifting way to conclude the year. The week was filled with opportunities to celebrate successes, acknowledge growth, and reflect on all that has been accomplished throughout 2025.

A message from Ms Turner for the 2025 Year 9 cohort

As we come to the end of the year and attend the Year 10 Step Ahead Program, I want to take a moment to thank each and every one of you for the incredible journey we’ve shared. Many of you I’ve known since you first began here in Year 7 and others have joined along the way, the very first co-educational cohort, and it’s been such a privilege to see how far you’ve all come. I’ve watched you grow through the highs and lows, showing courage, humour, and resilience along the way.

This year, I’ve seen the power of being vulnerable, of creating healthy and respectful relationships, and of showing understanding towards others, including your teachers. It’s so important to remember that your teachers are human beings too, people who have walked in your shoes, experienced adolescence, and truly want the best for you. Continue to embrace change with confidence and never hesitate to seek support from your teachers, they are here to guide you and want to see you succeed. Continue to represent the College with pride, as the younger year levels will always look up to you as leaders, so always think before you act or speak, and lead with kindness and integrity.

You have made these past three years and my time with you, something I will truly never forget. Thank you very much Year 9s and I wish you the best of luck for Year 10.

To the Year 9 Students in Step Ahead!

It was wonderful to see students step into their new classes and electives this week, embracing change and taking every opportunity to form new connections, this is what life is all about. As we reach the end of the term and year, it’s an important time to reflect on our achievements across all aspects of life as we continue to grow as lifelong learners. I wish the Year 9 students of 2026 all the very best for the year ahead!

A big thank you to our parents and carers in the St Aloysius College community. Your ongoing support and care ensure we can work together to shape each young person’s learning and wellbeing.

Year 9 was a year full of growth, change, and learning. From Term 1, we had loads of fun, especially during our trip to Canberra as a cohort, having our final NAPLAN assessment period in our schooling. Further, in Term 2 many of us participated in the College Musical engaging with school in a co-curricular way. Term 3, though not with many school events, was full of learning, and engaging with new ideas. That brought us to Term 4, this term was full of change and events, with Art & Technology exhibition celebrating and showcasing our art, our Year 9 reflection day to have a break from the crazy of the year and reflect as a year level. Then we met the end of year events, the Celebration Evening which celebrated our year level achievements in another way, and then we had exams. Though exams were stressful they brought out community in another way, sharing study habits and encouraging everyone to do their best. This brought our year to a close, as a group of students, full of community and pride moving into Year 10.
