From Year 9
The remainder of this term has been a busy and exciting time for the Year 9 students. One of the main areas of focus was the NAPLAN testing which the students approached with maturity and focus. The students embraced the change to routine over two weeks and I commend them for being adaptable while they dealt with some Wi-Fi and connectivity issues
In the classroom, students have been engaging positively with the range of subjects offered in Year 9 and begun to focus on assessments at this pointy end of the term. For elective subjects it is the halfway mark and students are either working on long term projects (such as in Street Wear where they are designing a hoodie) or also finishing assessments to show their understanding of the content.
The Cyber Safety Project, which was presented to the Year 9s on Monday the 16th, explored what it really means to be safe and responsible online. From testing their digital knowledge to unpacking the hidden world of metadata, students discovered how much information (such as location and time) can be shared without even realising it. From this presentation the students have developed a deeper understanding of how to protect themselves in the digital world.
Lastly the Summer ACS program has reached its break point as the students had their last interschool match of that program this week (Week 9). As we enter the Winter program the students will have to store all their skills and sports knowledge in a safe space to retrieve late in the year when Term 4 starts.
