From Year 9

On Thursday 17th November all students celebrated the year that they had as Year 9 students. They had such a great day. It was truly a celebration of their achievements and praise of what a wonderful year level they are.

Going into Year 10 is a big transition from the junior/middle school to Senior School. It also means they will be a buddy to a Year 7 student. The first session was all about preparing them to be a buddy and what this means for them. The buddy system will look a little different next year because we welcome Year 7 boys as well as girls. The Year 10 students will also be allocated more than one student to mentor. All the students enjoyed this session as they were able to reflect back on their time in year 7 and what their older buddy did for them. They are excited to take on this role next year.

Our liturgy and Assembly between recess and lunch was fabulous. Students were able to reflect on the year in a spiritual way. Each Pastoral Group made posters of what their Pastoral Group means to them, and these were presented as part of the liturgy. At the Assembly there were many awards to give out and it was especially wonderful to celebrate all their achievements.I am extremely proud of this Year Level, and I will really miss being their Year Level Team Leader. They are wonderful year level.

On Monday 14th November, Michael Chesser and I had the privilege of accompanying ten Year 9 students to Mercy Place Nursing Home to sing Christmas Carols. The residents at the home were overjoyed to see our students. Many of them were able to sing some of the songs with us which was lovely. After our students performed, they were able to chat to the residents. Our students were touched by the experience and enjoyed hearing their stories. We look forward to visiting again.
