Mathematical Association of Victoria

Maths Games Day

On Thursday, 10th August, eight students from Year 9 participated in the Mathematical Association of Victoria Games Day at St Albans College. They competed against 38 teams from across Melbourne, working both in groups and individually to solve Maths problems and play Maths games. The students enjoyed interacting with students from different schools, even making new friends. A highlight of the day was the relay, where groups would solve a problem, take it to a teacher for checking then receive a new question. This brought out the students' competitiveness and serious power-walking skills! The students enjoyed the day and commented that they were pleasantly surprised that a day of Maths could be so fun.
