Donations Delivery Excursion

Mercy in Action

Often we donate goods or money and we don’t fully understand where these go, or see who benefits. To help the Year 9s complete the loop and inspire future action, we ran a “Donations Devliery” excursion on Wednesday afternoon.

10 students from different Year 9 Pastorals jumped on our school mini bus to drop off the goods that have been collected over the past month.

Our first stop was to the Brigidine Asylum Seeker Project in Albert Park. We donated a range of toiletries for Refugees and Asylum Seekers that are setting up a new life in Melbourne.

We met with Sister Brigid Arthur, co-founder of BASP who provide practical support to asylum seekers, including emergency funds, food and housing.

Next we visited St Mary’s House of Welcome in Fitzroy. We donated Sanitary Products to help people experiencing homelessness manage their periods and sanitary needs. We met with Holly Pabian from St Mary’s who has been helping us organise the Year 10 McAuley Program at Mercy Place this term.

Our final stop was to our local Woolworths who have a soft-plastics recycling service. We dropped off all our soft plastics from Tuesday’s Zooper Dooper Stall, also part of the Year 9 Mercy in Action Program so that they can be properly recycled.

Stall for the School of St Jude

The sunshine on Tuesday allowed us to sell a great number of Zooper Doopers to support the children at the School of St Jude. This was to complement the work that 9E did in creating beautiful messages for us to send to our new sponsor student Caren and her friends in Grade 1.

Reflecting on 2025

Thank you to everyone who has participated, helped organised, supported and donated items for our Mercy in Action initiatives. We look forward to growing these programs in 2026 and working even more closely with our local community to create lasting change for those less fortunate.
