Pentecost Sunday
Pentecost celebrates the moment the Holy Spirit came upon the apostles, filling them with courage, wisdom, and the ability to share Jesus’ message with the world. It is often called the “birthday of the Church” because it marks the beginning of the Church’s mission. Catholics remember that the same Spirit continues to guide, strengthen, and inspire us to live with faith, hope, and love.
Last year, Pope Leo said on Pentecost Sunday,
‘The Spirit opens borders, first of all, in our hearts. He is the Gift that opens our lives to love.’
During this time, we pray that our lives are open to love for ourselves, our community and for the world at large.
