Congratulations to Ivy Bekard who reached the Finals of the Robert Menzies Institute Public Speaking Competition for 2026.
A national competition, students from across the country in Year 7-12 were invited to write a speech engaging with the theme:
‘After 75 years, is the Australia-US alliance still in our national interest?’
Robert Menzies was well-known for his powerful speeches and spoke often of the importance of a good speech: “Aim at simple, clear speech, and if you aim at that and achieve it, you will find that this will make a very great difference right through your lives.”
Of all the entries for Year 9 & 10, Ivy made it to the top three, which is a remarkable achievement. Well done, Ivy!
