Rotary Breakfast
This Tuesday, we had the privilege of attending a beautiful Rotary Club breakfast at The Hotel Windsor as guests of Rhys Williams, member of the Rotary Club of Central Melbourne.
We heard from keynote speaker, Baethan Mullen, CEO of The Superpower Institute (in place of Prof. Ross Garnaut), a not-for-profit dedicated to helping Australia seize the economic opportunities of the post-carbon world. Attending the event was an enriching experience that helped us become more conscious of the changing times, and what a post-carbon future might look like. He explored Australia’s past in the energy sector - how success in this industry was achieved by taking action, not idly waiting for the ‘right time’ - and how we must work towards innovation instead of continuing down the same path.
We were able to speak to other attendees, who expressed the importance of learning about global economics and shared their various viewpoints on alternatives to carbon energy, and learn about the work done by representatives of the Superpower Institute in relation to Australia’s capability to leverage renewable materials in order to reduce carbon emissions.
We found that the Breakfast was a great opportunity to reflect on the future, and our role in the rapid growth of Australia’s economy; We left the event curious and inspired, and look forward to learning more about the rapid innovations being made in the industry.
