2023 has been another year of growth for St Aloysius in the ACS & CGSAV sporting competitions. We would like to congratulate all students who participated in ACS & CGSAV Sport throughout the 2023 season. There have been many ups and downs but overall, some positive learning experiences for our students.

ACS Grand Finals

Last week was the ACS Summer Season Grand Finals and we would like to acknowledge the following teams for making the Grand Finals. A special mention to the Inter Volleyball C team who went through the season undefeated!

Intermediate Volleyball C team defeated St Leonard’s

In a thrilling Grand Final, St Aloysius outclassed St Leonard’s in straight sets (3-0). Our girls showcased their exceptional skill and teamwork, demonstrating a commendable level of performance on the court. This victory was a testament to their outstanding play and efforts throughout the season. To go undefeated throughout the season is an amazing achievement!

Intermediate Volleyball D team defeated by St Michael’s

The Intermediate Volleyball D team had an outstanding season that saw them finish on top of the ladder. This meant a Home Grand Final at the State Netball Hockey Centre. The girls were confident going into the game having defeated St Michael’s both times throughout the home & away season. The game was full of momentum swings, but it was St Michael’s who managed to make the most of their opportunities. The team fought the game out to the end and displayed incredible sportsmanship throughout the game. St Michael’s won 3 sets to 1.

Year 7 Girls Soccer team defeated by Overnewton

Going into this Grand Final, the girls were quietly confident they would get the job done considering they defeated Overnewton twice throughout the home and away season. This was a high quality match that saw both teams tied at 2-2 at the main break. It was Overnewton who came out firing in the second half scoring 2 goals in 2 minutes of play. Our girls started to drop their heads but Mr Odachowski continued to instil belief in the players. With 5 minutes left, Chloe Korras scored a phenomenal goal which put us behind by only 1 goal. Chloe almost scored again in the final minutes but Overnewton’s defence managed to hold up in the dying stages. A fantastic effort by the girls who played the game in the right spirit and never gave up!

Year 7 Girls Volleyball B team defeated by Loyola

The Year 7 Girls Volleyball B team travelled to Diamond Valley Sports Centre to take on the undefeated Loyola. It was great to see our Volleyball A & C teams travel on the bus with the B team to support them in their Grand Final. The girls gave it their all but Loyola were too strong in the end and took out the victory 3 sets to 0.
