The Team Behind the Athletes
Behind every exceptional athlete is a dedicated team of coaches, and we extend our heartfelt thanks to Declan, Jak, and Mr. Smith for their unwavering support, guidance, and mentorship. Their efforts have played a significant role in the success of our athletes.
A Bright Future Ahead
Congratulations to all our athletes for their outstanding performances at the Championships. As we continue to grow as a school, so will our results in these competitive Championships. We look forward to more achievements and milestones in the future, driven by the same spirit of excellence and teamwork.
ACS Badminton Spotlight
At St Aloysius, the ACS badminton program consists of two teams: one team at Year 7 and one team at the Intermediate level. Badminton is a mixed-gender sport in the ACS, and the program not only provides opportunities for skill development but also cultivates a passion for the sport among students.
The Year 7 badminton team serves as the foundation of the program, introducing young athletes to the fundamentals of the sport and igniting their enthusiasm for competition. Under the guidance of dedicated coach Mr. Chesser, this team embarks on a journey of discovery, honing their skills and learning the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship both on and off the court.
Our Intermediate teams have been working hard under the guidance of badminton guru Ms. Forslind and are eager to get some results on the board.
Both our teams have struggled to secure a win to date but are working hard each week, supporting their teammates to get better. We look forward to watching their progression throughout the winter season!
ACS Soccer Spotlight
Year 7 Boys Soccer A
Our boys have shown remarkable promise and enthusiasm right from the start of the season. Under the expert guidance of Mr Crowle, they have worked hard on their skills and demonstrated great potential on the field. Let's cheer them on as they strive for excellence in every match.
Year 7 Boys Soccer B
These boys have displayed tremendous enthusiasm and a hunger to improve with every practice and match. Guided by Declan Gall, they have worked diligently to develop their skills and understanding of the game. Let's give them our full support as they continue to strive for greatness on the field.
Year 8 Boys Soccer A
These young athletes have already demonstrated their exceptional talent and commitment to the sport. With Mr Odachowski at the helm, they have been training hard to refine their skills and build strong team dynamics. Let's support our A-team as they aim for top performances in every match.
Year 8 Boys Soccer B
This team is full of enthusiastic players who have shown great dedication and a willingness to learn and grow. Under the guidance of Mr Sullivan, they have been developing their skills and working together to create a cohesive unit. Let's encourage our B-team as they strive for success and improvement in every game.
ACS Hockey Spotlight
ACS Hockey competitions run all year, with boys competing in Terms 1 & 4, and the girls competition running Terms 2 & 3. At Year 7, as many students have had minimal exposure to field hockey, it is about learning the basics of the game – how to hold the stick to alter the type of control you are aiming for; whether it be dribbling the ball, short passes, pushes or slap hits. Additionally, as a team-based field sport, spatial awareness, reading the play, field positions and supporting each other are all critical aspects of building skills, confidence and enjoyment in the game.
The Year 7 boys demonstrated a positive attitude and willingness to try things out during Term 1. While they may not have had any wins in the competition to date, they will continue to foster their progress and will return to further their skill building in Term 4 under their coach, Ms Daunt. St Aloysius does not have a Year 7 girls team this year; however, we can hope for an increase in interest and numbers for 2025. The Intermediate boys team began the year building on some of their successes from 2023. With Mr Smith as their coach, they have gone from strength to strength, building on the fundamentals they had established from Year 7. Similarly, the Intermediate girls team began their Term 2 campaign with a massive win, scoring more goals in their first game than they had experienced in the year prior – demonstrating their further skill development and providing a substantial boost to their confidence in their individual as well as team ability.
Each game brings more skills and confidence to the fore and we wish all teams the best throughout the competition.
Personal Achievements
We love hearing about the personal sporting achievements of our students beyond the school sport program! If there are any personal successes that you would like to share, please email: maddent@aloysius.vic.edu.au
