CGSAV Table Tennis

On Thursday, 17th October, eleven Year 10 students were escorted to MSAC to compete in the Division Two CGSAV Table Tennis Competition. The sporting competitions held by CGSAV provide students with discipline, self-esteem, teamwork, and promote a healthy lifestyle. The eleven students embraced the day, competing against Sacred Heart (Geelong), St Mary’s (St Kilda), Mercy College (Coburg), Ave Maria College (Essendon), and St Columba’s (Essendon). All teams played extremely well, and each made it to the semi-finals. The semi-final matches were close, but St Aloysius just missed out on reaching the finals. Overall, the students appreciated the teamwork and enjoyed the competitive social interactions with students from other schools. Here’s what the students had to say about the day:

Last Thursday, on the 17th of October, a small group of Year 10s went to MSAC for the CGSAV Table Tennis Competition. We all had a great time, with support from our coach, Jake, and Miss De Bono. We were really pleased to make it to the semi-finals, though unfortunately, we didn’t advance to the next round. We felt we made a good effort and enjoyed the day.

Last week, a small group of Year 10s participated in the CGSAV Table Tennis Tournament. It was a fun day, and we fought our way to the semi-finals. Everyone did so well, and despite not making it to the grand final, we still ended the day with a smile. We can’t wait to go back next year and win it.

CGSAV Softball

Last Thursday, thirteen Year 10 students travelled to Waverley to participate in the CGSAV Softball tournament. The team scored enough runs throughout the day to reach the grand final. Although they didn’t manage to bring home the win, they played with spirit and enthusiasm until the very last pitch. Notable efforts from the day included three fantastic catches by Lila Ryan, Nicola Watson, and Jacqui Puccio, solid catching by Mary Manger, and a huge hit by Mary-Grace Fitzgerald in the last innings that saw her score a home run. Every team member demonstrated admirable teamwork, encouragement, and sportsmanship throughout the day, and they should be commended for their fantastic efforts.
