Physical Education Training

St Michael's Primary School

The students of the school’s senior Physical Education course delivered two outstanding lessons to the Year 1 & 2 students at St Michael’s Primary school on Tuesday, 24th February. The theme of the lessons was dodging, obstacles & movements in line with the Victorian F-10 curriculum Band 1 & 2 Physical Education strand of ‘investigate different ways of moving their body and manipulating objects and space and draw conclusions about their effectiveness’. Furthermore, this opportunity aligned to the VCE Physical Education study design for Unit 3 – Improving movement skills related to the key knowledge of considerations to improve performance.

The students delivered 55 minutes sessions with varying activities to produce the desired outcome. The activities were delivered to aplomb with high engagement activities such as rob the nest, obstacle course, mushroom tag, octopus, ship to shore, line tag, fruit salad. The organisation of these activities were solely designed and executed by the students. This was a tremendous authentic learning experience where the students were able to put theory into practice. As a testament to how well the students delivered the sessions, they have been invited back!
