Initiative, Participation and Reflection

Student Leadership Program

A dedicated group of Year 8, 9, and 11 students has successfully completed the St Aloysius College Student Leadership Program — a four-part series of after-school sessions designed to build confidence, develop practical leadership skills, and inspire a strong sense of responsibility and teamwork. Across the program, students showed deep commitment to their personal development, embracing every opportunity to grow as emerging leaders within our community. Those who completed the full program are now eligible to apply for 2026 Vice Prefect or Senior Prefect roles.

The program focused on several key areas:

  • Understanding Leadership: Students explored what leadership means, examined various leadership characteristics and styles, and reflected on the importance of leading by example.
  • Self-Awareness: Through reflection and self-assessment, students identified their personal strengths and areas for growth, learning that the unique gifts of each individual contribute to stronger teams.
  • Communication Skills: Practical activities helped students develop effective verbal and non-verbal communication skills, including active listening and clear messaging in team settings.
  • Teamwork: Collaborative challenges, including a creative “escape room” activity, demonstrated the power of working together and the essential role of teamwork in achieving shared goals.
  • Leadership Philosophy: Students were encouraged to consider the values and beliefs that guide them as leaders, helping to shape a personal leadership philosophy.
  • Decision-Making and Integrity: Participants explored inclusive decision-making, problem-solving, and the importance of accountability and integrity in leadership roles.

Congratulations to all students who completed the program. Their initiative, participation, and reflection have set a strong foundation for leadership.
