Year Ten

A Reflection on Term One

Year 10 have experienced a busy Term 1. It has ranged from welcoming their Year 7 “Little Sisters” on the first day of school, exploring different types of study techniques, exploring Emotional Literacy in Respectful Relationships, starting a VCE subject, looking at possible future careers and developing rapport and goals with their mentor in Success Adviser Sessions.

On Tuesday 5th April the entire Year 10 Cohort came together for the day for their Reflection Day. Mr Michael Chesser organised a wonderful day exploring our school theme of “Respect” at a global, national, community and personal level. Please find below some of the comments of year 10 students.

“We completed many activities revolving around the theme of respect. We enjoyed partaking in activities such as a short drama performance, an art task, and a liturgy. It was a great day to come together as a year ten community”
“I learnt more about respect and particularly what it means in a Catholic context”.
“I found the videos and people definitions of respect and human rights interesting.”
“Reflection day was a good way for the year level to spend time together, and spend time with people in the year level other than their friends “
“I learnt a deeper understanding of respect and what it truly means to be respectful, and to earn the respect from others”.
“I enjoyed cooperating with others. I liked the drawing activity that we did, as it was fun to incorporate all the group's ideas and we were all proud of the outcome”
“I think the videos that were played were quite interesting, especially the one with 8 ways to lose respect from others.”
“I learnt about how important forgiveness is and why we should forgive others and about community and respect”
"Reflection also helped me to realize the importance of doing a self-check."

Year 10 students are looking forward to working towards their VCE subject selections in Term 2. All students will be reviewing their results from the Careers Testing, hearing from our careers advisor and the Learning Leaders about available VCE subjects. All of this will culminate in Subject Selection interviews between staff, students and parents towards the end of term. All students will be fully informed and supported in their VCE subject choices.

I wish all the Year 10 Community a wonderful Easter and hope everyone has a chance to relax and return to Term 2 refreshed.
