Visible Wellbeing
As part of our 18-month commitment to implementing and embedding Visible Wellbeing across the College, the staff continue to complete training on each of the SEARCH Framework components. As part of this training the staff attended a workshop facilitated by Dr Leah Waters, the founder of the Visible Wellbeing Program. We were very excited to host Dr Leah and she shared with staff her vast knowledge of the importance of visible wellbeing for both staff and students. Visible Wellbeing is the culmination of 20 years of high-impact research in psychology and education conducted and published by Professor Lea Waters. VWB is not a set curriculum, it is a flexible approach which can be applied across any subject area. Staff were provided with additional practical strategies for integrating visible wellbeing practices with our students, emphasising the development of resilience, self-regulation, and emotional intelligence. This approach encourages a supportive atmosphere where students can thrive academically and personally. More information about Dr Leah Waters can be found here. https://www.leawaters.com/bio. Dr Leah Waters will present a virtual parent/carer night with Lea. This will be a wonderful opportunity for parents and carers to learn about the Visible Wellbeing Program and how they can embed elements of VWB at home with their children. More information about this event will be sent directly to parents & carers.
The program is underpinned by an evidence-based framework called SEARCH. This framework covers 6 pathways to wellbeing:
- Strengths
- Emotional Management
- Attention and Awareness
- Relationships
- Coping
- Habits and Goals.
