Challenge and Courage

ACS Public Speaking

On Monday 3 August, three St Aloysius students represented the College at the ACS Public Speaking Competition:

  • Junior Category (Year 7 & 8): Reva Needham (Year 7)
  • Intermediate Category (Year 9 & 10): Gemma Sutherland (Year 9)
  • Senior Category (Year 11 & 12): Stevie Marie Jabines (Year 12)

Each student was required to create a prepared speech on a topic of their own choice. Below are the topics our students presented on:

Stevie then took part in testing her speaking ‘off the cuff’ skills in the Impromptu section, where students are given a secret topic and only four minutes to prepare a two minute speech. Stevie was given the topic of ‘If you could create any invention, what would it be and why?’

All students represented the College with gusto and demonstrated great courage challenging themselves to compete against their peers and speak in front of parents and teachers. Congratulations girls!
