Confirmation Sunday

During the Sunday 10:30 am Mass on the 27th of August 2023, two of our students in the sacramental program received the Sacrament of Confirmation at St Brendan’s Church, Flemington.

The Sacrament of Confirmation is part of the Sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church, which signifies the strengthening of faith through the same Spirit received at Baptism. Confirmation is sometimes described as a call to become more like Christ by responding to the call to serve others as full members of the Christian community.

Tate Langford of Year 7 and Tayla Rayner of Year 11 were joined by their families, sponsors and friends in receiving the seal of the spirit (oil of Chrism used to make the sign of the cross on the candidates’ forehead). Bishop Martin Ashe confirmed the candidates and during the homily spoke to all but particularly to the candidates on how the Holy Spirit of God guides us to do good and help others, and be true witnesses of Christ in word and deed.

The mass was also celebrated by Fr Thang Vu and also receiving the sacrament were three Grade 6 students from St Brendan’s Primary School.
