From the Deputy Principal
The College uniform is designed to create a cultural connection for students, help students bond as ‘Aloysians’ as well as forming equity across the student body. The College Uniform was designed a few years ago by a committee of staff and students aiming to be contemporary, flexible as well as practical. Like PPE, the College uniform can also be utilised for safety purposes; assists with student recognition on an excursion or in a public place. The advantages are numerous and parents have invested financially in quality fabrics that survive weekly washing and lunchtime outdoor activities.
St Aloysius College has for many years, provided the option for girls to wear trousers and shorts. The reasons girls choose from the many options, may be based on comfort or feeling freer to participate in physical activities, or as simple as dependent on the weather. There are options for vests and jumpers, but the blazer is always to be worn to and from school. The hem length for both shorts and skirts for all genders is just above the knee as was determined by the committee responsible for the design. I encourage parents and students to familiarise themselves with the Uniform Policy under ‘School Documents’ in Engage.
House uniforms, Sports uniform are seen around campus from time to time and of course the Musical ‘uniform’ made of black dance leggings and the Mamma Mia! t-shirt is being worn increasingly as rehearsals step up to the next level. The College musical is all but sold out with limited seats available on the nights of Friday 19 June and Saturday 20 June. A wonderful annual college event with Nadia Lavelle and her team shining a light on our talented students.
