Welcome

From the Principal

Welcome back to Term 3. We are delighted to extend a warm welcome to all the new staff and students who joined us this semester.

A few days into the Term and there have been many brilliant achievements from our students and staff which are highlighted in this edition of the College Newsletter. Congratulations to all.

On Tuesday we welcomed staff and students from our sister School in Kyoto, Seibo Gakuen. They will be visiting us for 10 days, while exploring Melbourne. Although their stay is short, I am sure they well be welcomed by the St Aloysius Mercy hospitality that will ensure they all will have a lasting memory of their visit and the friendship they form.

8 August is the Solemnity of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop,

"Let us try to keep God with us by charity of thought, word and act."
15.09.1890

St Mary MacKillop had a powerful saying: ‘Never see a need without doing something about it’ — a call to action that continues to inspire generations. In this Jubilee Year, the year of hope and in the spirit of renewal, we are reminded of the enduring wisdom of St Mary MacKillop and, as a Mercy community, this call resonates deeply. It challenges us not to simply witness the needs of our world — within our school, our suburbs, or on a global scale — but to respond with action born from compassion.

The Jubilee invites us to be people of hope: to see the potential for good in every situation, and to make choices that reflect our shared commitment to justice, service, and compassion.

As our Year 12 students begin their final full Term of their Secondary education, there is a powerful resonance with the Jubilee’s message. This term invites them to reflect upon their achievements so far, prepare for the challenges ahead, and embrace the future with hope and purpose —we wish them all the best.
