Father’s Day Breakfast
On Friday, September 5, we celebrated the annual Father's Day breakfast. Thank you to the many fathers and significant others who attended this occasion with their sons and daughters. I hope you all enjoyed the morning.
Special thanks are extended to school parents Marcus Olive (Engineer), Dr Luke Martin (Psychologist) and Sam Edmund (Journalist) for accepting the invitation of being our speakers and sharing with all present their reflection on our 2025 College theme ”Never be afraid of the unknown”. Their messages were delivered with humour and inspiration, and I thank them for their support and, to all attendees, I hope you enjoyed the morning.
Happy Mercy Day
On Tuesday 9 September we celebrated our annual Mercy Day. We gave special recognition to those Sisters of Mercy who have significantly contributed to our present. We thank Father Tang for being our celebrant on this special occasion. A special ceremony is the annual student leadership ceremony of passing on their badges to the incoming leaders for the class of 2026.
I would like to congratulate all the Prefects for all the joy, commitment and pride they brought to their role and the way they led with Mercy, justice and compassion.
The First Millennial Saint
Carlo Acutis, a London-born boy has become the first millennial saint, in a ceremony steeped in an ancient ritual presided over by Pope Leo on Sunday 7 September. In his short life, passing away at the age of 15 of leukaemia Carlo Acutis created websites documenting "miracles" as a means of spreading Catholic teaching, leading some to nickname him God's influencer.
Carlo was nearly six months old when his parents moved back to their home country of Italy, and he spent the rest of his life in Milan.
There, he was known for a love of technology and is said to have enjoyed playing video games.
While some who knew Carlo Acutis say he did not appear to be especially devout, as a teenager he did create a website – pages of which are now framed at the church in Chelsea – in which miracles were documented.
In the years after his death, Carlo's mother, Antonia Salzano, visited churches around the world to advocate for him to be a saint. As part of the process, it had to be proved her son had performed "miracles".
Pope Francis attributed two miracles to Carlo Acutis and so the test was passed and he was due to be made a saint on 27 April.
But Pope Francis died during the preceding week.
Unit 3&4 Exams
In week 2 of the Term break , all Unit 3/4 students will sit trial exams in preparation for their final VCE examinations, commencing next month. I encourage all students to take these trial exams very seriously and encourage the support of all parents in ensuring their daughter’s attendance.
Finally, I wish all students a safe term break and I look forward to their return in Term 4, energised and ready for the final term of this academic year.
