Lest We Forget

Lest We Forget

On Saturday 25 April, ANZAC Day was commemorated nationwide and across the globe as communities came together in remembrance and reflection. It is a solemn occasion that honours the courage and sacrifice of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps soldiers who landed at Gallipoli in 1915, as well as all service men and women who have fought and died for their country.

ANZAC Day calls us to reflect on the enduring Mercy Education values of respect, compassion, justice, courage, hospitality and service. These values continue to shape our community and remind us of our responsibility to honour those who made significant sacrifices for the freedoms we enjoy today. On Monday, as a college community, we came together to honour the service and sacrifice of all who have served as we paused to remember, we stood united with people across the world in acknowledging their service.

ANZAC Prayer
God of peace,
We give thanks for the courage and service of all who have served our nation.
We remember those who gave their lives,
And we pray for their families and loved ones.
May we honour their sacrifice by working for peace,
Living with compassion and justice,
And serving others with courage and hope.
Amen.

Lest we forget.

I warmly welcome all new students who commenced with us this term. We hope that your transition to St Aloyisus has been both smooth and a happy one, and that you are already feeling a strong sense of belonging within our community.

Yesterday, we held Learning Conferences from 7–10, providing an important opportunity for meaningful conversations between students, families and teachers. It is vital that students take time to reflect on the feedback shared, consider their learning progress, and review their commitment to their studies. This reflection is particularly important as subject selections approach, especially for our Year 10 students, as they begin to make decisions about their senior learning pathways.

Finally, we are pleased to share that the Senior Years Campus building project is progressing well. We are hopeful that this new space will become the base for our senior years students early in Semester 2.

I hope all have a good Term 2.
