Wellbeing & Leadership

From Year 10

The last fortnight has been a very busy time for Year 10 students. Last week, Year 10 had the opportunity to listen to speeches delivered by Year 11 students applying for leadership roles in 2026. Year 10 students gained valuable insight into what makes an effective leader, such as the importance of preparation, speaking with purpose, and connecting with an audience. Time will go quickly, and this time next year it will be this cohort's turn. In Food Agriculture, Year 10 students made cinnamon scrolls, learning to make the dough from scratch. This echoes the Year 10 theme 'Walking through a journey' which is more than just the passage of time. It's the collection of experiences, challenges, and growth that shape who we are.

Congratulations to Sofia Dio, Alisa Webb, Catherine Fu, Audrey Fleming, Chloe Hamilton and Desh Gonzales for being appointed as Class Co-captains for Semester 2.

Last week a number of Year 10 students participated in the ACS Cross Country Tournament. The Year 10 girls' team achieved second place overall. Milly Delaney, Gemma Lehane, and Amelie Mullins finished in the Top 10 of the girls' race. A special congratulations to Amelie Mullins, who achieved fourth place in the Year 10 girls' run category. Well done to all students for this remarkable achievement!

On Monday's wellbeing session this week, we had the privilege of having Angelica from This is Your Body return to the College to run a session with Year 10 and 11 students. The session aimed to provide students with practical knowledge and strategies to support both their physical and mental wellbeing. Students engaged thoughtfully in discussions and showed their growing awareness of how lifestyle habits affect health. The incursion provided valuable takeaways that encourage Year 10s to make positive, sustainable choices in their everyday lives.

Last Friday, cross country was awesome! I was a bit nervous at first, but I quickly realised it wasn't about being the fastest—it was more about pushing myself and having fun. Everyone was super supportive, and that made the whole experience way better. Even though I was tired, I felt really proud of how I did, and it was cool to see how much I've improved since the start of the term. Honestly, it was a great reminder that every small step forward counts! Pia Millevo 10A
Last Friday, the cross-country event took place, and St. Aloysius was well represented with a strong turnout of participants. In Year 10, many students competed, and the Year 10 girls achieved an impressive 2nd place overall. The day was full of fun and required great dedication from all the girls who competed. Three Year 10 girls placed in the top 10: Amelie (4th place), Millie, and Gemma, showcasing the hard work of the entire team. Everyone who completed the race did an excellent job, making the day a memorable and exciting experience for all.
