Growing in Maturity and Confidence

From Year 7

Year 7 students have made an excellent start to Term 3, demonstrating increasing maturity in the classroom and greater responsibility for their learning. Teachers have been particularly impressed by the respectful way students are engaging with one another, responding to feedback and contributing positively to their learning environments.

Student wellbeing will be a significant focus throughout the term. Students will participate in a Toolbox Education incursion on emotional regulation, followed by pastoral activities exploring relationships, disappointment, change, kindness, gratitude and practical strategies for managing their wellbeing. These experiences will culminate in students developing their own personal Wellbeing Toolkit.

On Monday 3 August, Year 7 students will also participate in a subject-specific Study Skills session with Year 10 mentors. Working in small groups, students will receive support in a subject they would like to strengthen or extend. Year 10 mentors will share revision techniques, helpful resources and practical study strategies, while providing guidance with assessment feedback and learning tasks.

Students will also have several opportunities to strengthen their leadership and sense of belonging this term, beginning with Co-Captain speeches and voting. Newly elected Co-Captains will be announced during Pastoral on Wednesday 29 July.

We look forward to seeing our Year 7 students continue to develop as thoughtful, resilient and increasingly independent young people throughout the term.
