From Year 9
As we come to the end of Term 3, it is a good opportunity for our Year 9 students to reflect on what has been another busy term. Students have continued to develop their independence and take on more responsibility for their learning and behaviour. Across the term, there have been many opportunities for students to challenge themselves, work with others and continue to grow both inside and outside the classroom.
The inter-house performing arts saw several Year 9 students show off their musical talents across the three days of heats. Only one act from each house could make the final, held on the 31st, and this year we once again saw the Scullywags (Jack Polli, Luca Sortino, Marcus Tolinades and Mark Vlasenko) representing Scully House. Well done boys!
At the time of writing Mercy Day is close and each pastoral class has spent a few extended pastoral sessions brainstorming stalls they can run on the day. The theme for Year 9 this year was ‘Guessing Games’ so each pastoral had to think of an activity that fit this theme. I’m confident that Mercy Day will run smoothly and students from all year levels will give these guessing games a red hot go and help raise money for our Mercy Charities.
With holidays around the corner, students now have the opportunity to finish these last few weeks strong. There is still plenty to look forward to in Term 4 as well, but it is also important that students reflect on the goals they set for themselves at the beginning of the year and consider what they can continue to improve. With Year 10 getting closer, Term 4 is a great time for our Year 9 students to demonstrate the maturity, responsibility and positive attitude that will help them as they move into the next stage of their schooling.
