From Year 9

Welcoming Year 9 students to the College this week was such a wonderful experience. The students were extremely excited and happy to be here. I was extremely impressed with their uniform and how extremely well dressed they were. There was such a buzz. While there were some nerves from one or two students, these nerves soon dwindled once they saw their teachers and friends and had familiarity of routine. It is hard to believe that we have only been back one week and we have already had photos and the Year 8 & 9 Parent Information evening.

I would like to thank all of those that attended the Year 9 Information Evening event on Wednesday 1st February. The feedback from parents was very positive and it is wonderful to have your support. I hope that you found the evening informative and that the college procedures were clarified. I will send the Powerpoint of the evening with the Weekly Reminder direct message.

Every week I will send a weekly reminder via direct message that will have a reflection of the week that passed and a reminder of upcoming events for the week ahead. I ask that you please read this so that you are up to date on all that is occurring in Year 9.

A reminder that if your child is absent from school, please log the absence online via the app or call the College directly. All work is on the Learning Management System and if the student is well enough, they can follow the lesson online.

A big thank you for the effort made with photo day. Students were very well groomed and followed uniform protocols. I ask that you support your child in following the uniform policy. Some things to note, nails should be natural colour and at a reasonable length, the summer dress should be at knee length, hair one neutral colour, socks should be white and piercings are limited to the ear with a small sleeper.

Each of the Pastoral Rooms will create a Community Board where students can provide uplifting quotes, birthday reminders and positive experiences such as participating in an extra-curricular activity within or outside of school.

I will leave you with some reflections from some students in each Pastoral Group on their experience of Term 1 so far.

The first week back has been an exciting week. Our classes consisted of meeting new teachers and experiencing the first classes for 2023. We really enjoyed learning with our peers and getting to know new friends. The classes also had the opportunity to present class captain speeches and sign up for the upcoming House Swimming Carnival. This week has been full of exploring the new subjects and delving deeper into the subjects that we already know.

As this was the first week of school, we welcomed the new year 7s into the school. Year 9 this week has been fun as we have explored new friendships and getting back into the swing of learning. In English we are reading this interesting book about people growing up and we are answering questions about the book as we go along, which is quite interesting to me. Being a new student to St Aloysius, I felt I came into this school and was very welcomed by all the teachers and students. I’m excited to expand my learning to the max in the coming year in year 9.

The first week back was full of lots of excitement, it was great to get back to classes and see our friends again. It was very exciting to meet all our new teachers and get back in the swing of having a routine. On the first day back we had our school photos and the students running for class captain delivered their speeches. It was a busy week. We are very excited for the year ahead.
